Thöling (Tsada) and Tsaparang in the Sutlej Valley were the Centres of the ancient Buddhist Kingdom of Guge which restored the Tibetan Buddhism in the 9th Century. The Monastic Complex at Thöling was founded by Ringchen Zangpo, a Monk who worked under the Patronage of the Guge King Yeshe Ö in the 10th Century AD.Thöling was once Western Tibet's most important Monastic Complex, and was still functioning in 1966 when the Guards of the Chinese Cultural Revolution shut down Operations. Unfortunately all the Buddhist Art Work in the Tibetan Monasteries of Thöling and Tsaparang were destroyed by the Cultural Revolution in the 1960s.
